Technology Empowers Hog Breeding, Special LED Lighting Ushers in a New Era of Smart Animal Husbandry

2026.08.10

In the era of large-scale pig farming, equipment procurement is no longer a simple matter of "buying a lamp or installing a wire". By 2025, the number of pig farms with an annual slaughter capacity of over 10,000 heads nationwide exceeded 12,000, representing a 65% year-on-year increase from 2024, while the national large-scale livestock breeding rate reached 73%. Contrary to the rapid growth of large-scale breeding, however, the industry’s equipment procurement model has long remained fragmented: purchasing lamp shades from Manufacturer A, bulbs from Manufacturer B, wiring harnesses from Manufacturer C, and lamp tubes from Manufacturer D. A single pig farm’s heating and lighting system requires coordination with four or five suppliers, resulting in incompatible models, mismatched interfaces and buck-passing after-sales services. This fragmented procurement model stands in stark conflict with the general trend of industrial concentration. In 2025, the automation penetration gap between leading breeding enterprises and small-scale individual farmers hit 74 percentage points (92% versus 18%). Inconsistent equipment, incompatible standards and isolated data constitute core causes of this divide. As the industrial landscape transforms, equipment procurement logic must evolve accordingly. Shifting from purchasing individual pieces of equipment to adopting complete system solutions is not merely an upgrade in marketing rhetoric, but a systematic restructuring of procurement models for pig farm equipment.
